In the small, quaint town of Madisonville, Kentucky, peace and prosperity were embedded in the air.  It was a town where people left their doors open, most attended church and everyone knew everyone.  The small town was a haven for its residents.  It appeared as if nothing could possibly go wrong.  That is until the evening of January 12, 2003, when Ann Branson, a wealthy widow and well-respected businesswoman beloved throughout Madisonville, was found dead in her home, bludgeoned and brutally stabbed ninety-seven times. 

    Murder In Mayberry: Greed, Death and Mayhem in a Small Town tells the         shocking and horrifying tale of the murder of Ann Branson.  With no clues, no DNA and nearly an entire town full of suspects, it appeared this brutal crime would turn into a cold case.  But Ann’s nephew, retired federal agent Jack Branson, never gave up hope.  He vowed the killer would be caught.  However, as the long list of suspects started winding down, a terrifying thought sent him in shivers: what if it was a member of their family? The fleeing killer becomes one of the FBI’s Most Wanted during a harrowing, international search.  However, the biggest shock of all was not who committed the murder, but why the beloved Ms. Branson was killed in the first place. 

Mary Kinney Branson is the president of Apt.Word, Inc., a literary service, and author of more than sixteen books in the children’s and Christian markets and has ghostwritten many more. She lives in Cumming, Georgia with her husband, Jack.

Jack Branson is a retired U.S. Treasury Special Agent,     spending most of his career serving on a public corruption task force.  He is a licensed private investigator with his own agency, Branson & Associates, LLC.  He resides with his wife, Mary, in Cumming, Georgia.
