THRILL KILLERS

A True Story of Innocence and Murder Without Conscience

By Detective Raymond Pingitore and Paul Lonardo

Gripping and terrifying until the last scene, this true crime story begins in the early morning hours of June 9, 2000.  Amy Shute and Jason Burgeson are saying goodnight after a night out dancing in a downtown nightspot in Providence, Rhode Island.  The young college students were talking beside Burgesons SUV when ten gaping eyes with evil intent fell on them.  The men had been prowling the streets looking for victims.  They had fastened on Amy and Jason earlier in the evening, and now the young man and woman were alone, making them easy targets.  They forced Amy and Jason into the backseat of the car, drove to a remote and inaccessible area, where the couple were ordered out of the vehicle and told to kneel down on the ground.

They saw my face, one gunman observed. We have to kill them!

Moments later, the young couple were shot execution style, after which the killers fled the scene and would have gone unpunished. However, one detective, Raymond Pingitore, along with the families of the victims swore that those responsible for Amy and Jasons deaths would pay and justice would prevail following this heinous crime.  But the longer it takes, the more dangerous these kind of murders become.

Thrill Killers is a brutal, relentless and often quite moving narrative, a chilling In Cold Blood-esque story of innocence snuffed out and murderers who senselessly kill without conscience or regret.

Detective Raymond Pingitore is a former Chief of Police of a major city police department with more than 25 years of service as a narcotics and vice investigator. He earned his detective badge in 1992, and currently works in the major crimes division of his local precinct. A graduate of Roger Williams University, Ray holds a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice. He has lived in Johnston, Rhode Island for the last 30 years.

Paul Lonardo comes from a varied educational background, with an AS in mortuary science and a BA in English from the University of Rhode Island, and is the author of several true crime novels. He currently reisdes in Lincoln, Rhode Island.
