In this deeply moving book, Judy Zionts Fox and Mia Roldan survey survivors of parental suicide, exploring they ways their lives have been affected and shaped by this life-altering event.

Revealing their emotional, psychological and physical effects, sons and daughters tell of their reactions to the tragedy of losing a parent by his or her own hand. First, by focusing on infant and child survivors. Second, by concentrating on adolescents and third, turning to the adult survivors of parental suicide. Next, the authors present helpful responses from therapists, clergy and a criminal investigator. Then they show how the subjects' peers, including friends, classmates, work colleagues and relatives have and can helps the survivors recover.

Finally, with sensitivity, integrity and insight, the authors explore how to recover and deal with the ghosts of their family tragedies.

The authors, themselves both victims of parental suicide, help fellow survivors to gain comfort, cope with memories of their departed parents and reveal helpful methods and strategies by which to heal from the heartbreak of parental suicide and create a promising, productive future.

Judy Zionts Fox, RN, LSW has over two decades of experiences as a registered psychiatric nurse and social worker. She has a B.A. in Social Work from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas and an R.N. from Western Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her mother committed suicide when Judy was six weeks old. She is married with four daughters, has eleven grandchildren and resides in Austin, Texas.

Mia Roldan is an elementary education teacher in Austin, Texas. She is Certified in Elementary ESL and National Board Certified in Special Education from Dominican University in San Rafael, California, and is currently studying for a Master's degree at the University of Texas School of Social Work in Austin, Texas. Her mother committed suicide when she was twelve years old. She is married and the mother of two children in resides in Austin, Texas.
