Your Sexually Addicted Spouse
How Partners Can Cope And Heal
by Barbara Steffens, Ph.D., and Marsha Means, MA
Sexual addictions and compulsive sexual behavior loom as growing societal problems with as much as 3 to 6 percent of the world population afflicted.
Your Sexually Addicted Spouse: How Partners Can Cope And Heal shatters the stigma and shame that millions of women and some men carry when their partners are sexually addicted. They receive little empathy for their pain; they suffer alone, shocked and isolated by the trauma.
Your Sexually Addicted Spouse is an indispensible guide that extends a positive ray of hope to those who are most affected by the dangers and drama of sexual addiction. Certified Clinical Sexual Addiction Specialist Barbara Steffens, Ph.D., has revealed groundbreaking new research showing that partners are not codependents but victims of post-traumatic stress disorder. Additionally, author Marsha Means provides insight from personal experience with sexual addiction. Here are important strategies and critical steps to recognize, deal with and heal partners victimized by sexually addicted relationships.
Your Sexually Addicted Spouse includes firsthand accounts and stories revealing the impact on the lives of both the afflicted and the victimized parties of this growing epidemic. Chapters include “On A Personal Note” questions and offer suggestions for personal application, while providing healing paths that lead from trauma to empowerment, health and hope. An appendix provides information for health and mental health care providers and clergy.
