Courageous Journey
Walking the Lost Boys' Path from the Sudan to America
by Ayuel Leek Deng, Beny Ngor Chol and Barbara Youree
Courageous Journey is a compelling true story about the bravery of two young men who refused to become another statistic. This harrowing read is chronicled through the eyes of two boys, Ayuel Leek Deng and Beny Ngor Chol. It reenacts the exodus of the thousands who walked for months across barren land, menaced by starvation, disease, wild animals and gunfire and ended up in the United States, where they reached the American dream and began to realize their own aspirations of helping their homeland by raising awareness of the horrors they saw.
"Ayuel Leek Deng and Beny Ngor Chol face incredible obstacles in this
story of courage and unrelenting determination...a powerful statement
about the effects of today's most threatening issues— terrorism, religious
conflict and ethnic hatred—on the most vulnerable among us."
— Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Nobel Peace Prize Winner
